It was a super weekend!

Super Bowl weekend started off on a downer, so to speak. Because I went DOWN on a little patch of black ice on Friday morning at work. I have a nice  bruise on my forearm but that's about it. Whew! Then later that night I sliced a small circle off the tip of my right index finger. I had been planning to meet RBud on Saturday morning to swim, but since the bleeding had not stopped, I decided that was not a good idea. I was just hoping it would stop before the last two CrossFit Foundations classes later that morning!

Team Rabbit blogged about the weekend, here. But I'm including some different pictures, today!

I had a few errands to run, which included purchasing a variety of bandages, as I had none in the house!
We have bandages!
The bleeding seemed to have subsided and with my finger extra protected I headed off to my final CrossFit Foundations sessions.

I used protection!
In class, the focus was on Olympic lifts - not that I'll be doing them in the Olympics or anything like that! But first we did the warm-up routine - in order - then a quick refresher on the prior session. At the end of it all we did a short workout, for time:

3x

  • 250 meter row
  • 10 burpees
  • 7 wall balls

The workout was hard! But...I passed Foundations and am now officially a CrossFitter!!

Sunday was the Super Bowl and before that the Big Game Runch Powered by Nike at Reston =PR=. I had a great run with Kim and some of her running friend, and bonus: won new running shoes in the post-run drawing! Thanks, Ashley and Nike!

Yay for new shoes!
Later that day I made some yummy 'loaded paleo nachos' to take to a Super Bowl party. I also got positive feedback from some folks not doing the Whole30. Speaking of Whole30...today is day 24 for me! And I'll finish up the day before I head to sunny Florida for a nice weekend retreat.

So far this week has been a good one training-wise, and otherwise uneventful! I had a nice 3 mile run on Tuesday, attended my first full CrossFit class on Wednesday, and I managed to swim three times and the shoulder felt good! Last night I finished up the workout with 4x25 fly sprints! With a little more work I think I'll be able to do that 100 Fly at the Colonies Zone swim meet in April!

I still need to get back on my bike! Any one of them...

This weekend is the Run Your Heart Out 5K. This year it is on a different but familiar course - it is moving from the Reston course at South Lakes High School to the one at Fairfax Corner at the Fairfax =PR=. I am looking forward to the run!

Happy and Healthy Training!
