Cherry Blossom Cheer Report...and other things!

It was a fun weekend of training, cheering, and shed building! Saturday involved a 50 minute 2200 yard swim at Audrey Moore followed by a 4.75 mile hilly run that included four loops on a track. The 2200 yard swim got me to 10000 yards for the week! I had planned to work on my shed assembly project that afternoon. Sadly, it was too darned windy. I was mostly slug-like but had a nice night watching some basketball.

Sunday morning I was up bright and early so I could drive over to Gravelly Point Park then ride my bike 2.25 miles to the middle-ish of the Memorial Bridge so I could cheer on other members of Team Rabbit (Carol and Pam) as well as my friend and fellow blogger, Kim in the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. I also cheered on my friend Maria aka Tink in the Cherry Blossom 5k. This was her first race ever! While cheering I saw a few familiar faces: Leanne and Debbie and of course the juggler! This is probably the same juggler from another DC race. The juggler had on a Wizards' jersey and was bouncing a basketball while juggling two beanbags! He is AUsome! I also cheered on a few unknown runners from Team Z. It was fun though a bit chilly. I was on the bridge for almost two hours! I had stopped by a bench built in to the structure of the bridge as I thought it would be a good place to stand. It was a good thing because a number of runners ran on the side walk at times. I felt a little claustrophobic! I even pulled my bike up on to the bench with me as I did not want anyone to run into it. As for riding along the Potomac to and from the bridge, I was afraid it would be chilly but that was actually not too bad!

Sunday after I got home my son and I continued to work on the shed assembly. Thankfully the wind was in our favor – that is it was not windy! Unfortunately the shed is a bit un-level and we could not finish the project. I’ll work on correcting that and we should hopefully be able to finalize things by the end of this weekend. Here's what we have so far:

Semi-Roofless Shed!
Speaking of this weekend, I have the GW Parkway Classic 5K(Gotta love a race that has my initials in the name!) Apparently during all the shed assembly I annoyed my hamstring again! Hopefully it will settle down by Sunday morning. Thanks to SRab for picking up my race packet!

In other news, my other son (I mentioned him here) has started a new blog! If you like DC sports and the SEC - he does attend Auburn after all - check it out! It has a catchy name! I might be biased too, but I think he does a good job. (Pun intended!) Get The Goods! "A Sports Blog. With some DC and SEC bias. Could it get more annoying? Possibly."

Happy and Healthy Training!
