Well I wanted to do a blog update this week and meant to do it earlier -- on Earth Day...but time got away from me. So Finally Friday it is! Tonight I plan to jog/walk a 5k with my dog at the 'final' Crystal Run 5K Fridays race. My dog should have a blast! The most we've ever run/walk is 4 miles so she should be ok! I love they they allow dogs to participate in certain races. We should have FUN! And Kathy, aka Running Buddy, aka RBud will be there as well! I hope we can coordinate a meeting place beforehand!
Tomorrow I plan to swim with STUK! (STUK is the one who came up with the name "Rabbittear" for Team Rabbit followers!) at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex! I remember going there for indoor track meets for my younger son and always thought what a cool place it was. They have everything! The pool always looked amazing and I'm excited I get to finally try it out! After the swim I'm headed to packet pick up for a 5K race I'm doing on Sunday - Rockstar 5K - with P-Diddles! This race is one of =PR='s Collectible Pin Races! I plan to do a few more (four I think) to I earn a t-shirt at the end of the year!
The race for Sunday looks fun! The course is one big loop with rolling hills (based on the elevation chart when I plotted the course on MapMyRun) that starts and finishes in the middle of Fairfax Corner on Grand Commons Avenue. P-Diddles and I are carpooling which will be fun. In case you forgot, P-Diddles is the Rabbittear who kind of got Team Rabbit going with the suggestion of wearing bunny ears! And I'm excited because there's a Caribou Coffee there and I'm hoping I can grab a post race celebratory latte before we head home after.

The Countdown is On!
The countdown is on for the 4.4 Mile Great Chesapeake Bay Swim! Well, it has actually been on since I officially signed up, but what I mean is that today I received a "Timelines and Logistics Update" email from the race director. Yikes!
Not yikes, really, but it made it more real! As you can see by my countdown timer on the right the event is less than two months away. Only 52 days and some hours to be exact. But now I know the timing of things. I was curious as to whether or not it would be an earlier or later start time as I'd heard that this depended up on current or high tide. Or something!
According to the details on the event website, "The Race Director reserves the right to vary the start time to account for deviations from the predicted tide and current conditions, as indicated by NOAA. Therefore, a START WINDOW OF BETWEEN __ A.M. AND __ A.M. has been established to allow maximum flexibility." But now I have a general time line to work with. Yay!
In other news, my son and I finally got the rest of the shed built! Here he is putting finishing touches on the roof:
The last thing was to get the doors stabilized and mounted. That was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. All in all the shed looks pretty good! Hopefully this one will hold up for 30 years, just like the one before it!
The only thing we did not do on Sunday after we were done hanging the doors was to attach the base of the shed to the foundation. We said, "We will do that next weekend." Well...on Monday I got home from work, which had been a little bit of a windy day, to find that the shed had been pushed back about a foot or two to the fence! My son works late so I had to manipulate the shed back into place then drill some holes and screw the base of the frame to the foundation. It actually was not too difficult! I checked this morning after our crazy windy and wintry weather yesterday / last night and the shed was still in place. Success!
So that means that this weekend we will take everything out of the garage (lawn mower, leaf blower, lawn tools, etc.) and move it all back into the new shed. I'm so excited! This means I'll be able to move about the garage again.

Cherry Blossom Cheer Report...and other things!
It was a
fun weekend of training, cheering, and shed building! Saturday involved a 50
minute 2200 yard swim at Audrey Moore followed by a 4.75 mile hilly run that included four
loops on a track. The 2200 yard swim got me to 10000 yards for the week! I had planned to work on my shed assembly project that
afternoon. Sadly, it was too darned windy. I was mostly slug-like but had a
nice night watching some basketball.
Sunday
morning I was up bright and early so I could drive over to Gravelly Point Park
then ride my bike 2.25 miles to the middle-ish of the Memorial Bridge so I could
cheer on other members of Team Rabbit (Carol and Pam) as well as my friend and
fellow blogger, Kim in the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. I also cheered on my friend Maria aka Tink in the Cherry
Blossom 5k. This was her first race ever! While cheering I saw a few familiar
faces: Leanne and Debbie and of course the juggler! This is probably the same juggler from another DC race. The juggler had on a Wizards' jersey and was bouncing a basketball while juggling two beanbags! He is AUsome! I also cheered on a few
unknown runners from Team Z. It was fun though a bit chilly. I was on the
bridge for almost two hours! I had stopped by a bench built in to the structure
of the bridge as I thought it would be a good place to stand. It was a good
thing because a number of runners ran on the side walk at times. I felt a
little claustrophobic! I even pulled my bike up on to the bench with me as I
did not want anyone to run into it. As for riding along the Potomac to and from
the bridge, I was afraid it would be chilly but that was actually not too bad!

Sunday
after I got home my son and I continued to work on the shed assembly. Thankfully
the wind was in our favor – that is it was not windy! Unfortunately the shed is
a bit un-level and we could not finish the project. I’ll work on correcting
that and we should hopefully be able to finalize things by the end of this
weekend. Here's what we have so far:

Semi-Roofless Shed! |
Speaking of this weekend, I have the GW Parkway Classic 5K! (Gotta love a race that has my initials in the name!) Apparently during all the shed assembly I annoyed my hamstring again! Hopefully it will settle down by Sunday morning. Thanks to SRab for picking up my race packet!
In other news, my other son (I mentioned him here) has started a new blog! If you like DC sports and the SEC - he does attend Auburn after all - check it out! It has a catchy name! I might be biased too, but I think he does a good job. (Pun intended!) Get The Goods! "A Sports
Blog. With some DC and SEC bias. Could it get more annoying? Possibly."
Next up: GW Parkway Classic 5K!
