One Shining Moment!

Last night I watched the NCAA Men's National Championship Game - Wisconsin versus Duke. I was 'sad' that Kentucky was out - since I'd picked them to win it all - so decided I'd root for Duke. At least they had the same colors. No offense to my Wisconsin friends...as it would have been nice to see them win also. I thought it was a fun and fast paced game from the start. Yes, there were problems with officiating. But I swear, in what big game in any sport do you not hear about that lately?

Anyway, after the game I stayed up for the playing of "One Shining Moment" which I'd never heard of before last year or so. Carol aka STUR always talked about it and how cool it was, and now I know to wait for it. It is a nice recap. You can see this year's video, here.

Here is the final outcome of my bracket:
It was fun to watch how my bracket fared!
At least I picked two out of the four in the Final Four!

Speaking of One Shining Moment... My shining moment (or moments) will be this Saturday at the Colonies Zone Swim Meet, hosted by the Patriot Masters. I'm entered in the 200 fly, 200 IM, and 50 fly. I did a 100 fly long course in a meet once. It was so exhausting I wanted to quit halfway through the second 50... But I did not! Last week I did a 200 fly in practice. At least now I know I can go the distance without stopping.

They have published psych sheets for the meet. This is so you can see your competition and how you match up. Not sure if this is a good thing, or not!

I'll be swimming at the meet with Carol and Margie. Margie is also entered in the 200 fly and sent me a handy sheet of 200 fly tips for the race. Not 200 tips, but tips on 200 fly! The following stood out to me:

"The 200-butterfly is considered one of the most grueling events in the sport of swimming."

I was then telling my son about the meet and that I was swimming the 200 fly. And shared the tidbit from above. He came back with "Hahah well... You've already done an Ironman and I don't think it gets much more grueling than that." Thanks, son! What a great way to put it in perspective!

Bring it on!
