If you read my profile it states that "I want to be an Ironman." Well, yesterday I mailed off an application for a community fund slot for Ironman USA Lake Placid for July 2009. I could not go to the recent race with my team, and was considering Florida for November 2009, but after thinking it though (schedules, timing, etc.) I thought I would try the charitable route first. So maybe I will become an Ironman yet! I am training for my 2nd half iron distance this year, my 3rd altogether, which is in early September. I've also got a half on the calendar for next June, and will maybe add another - after I see what my training team's (Team Z) schedule for the year is.
Anyway, today is my father's 90th birthday. Is that a lot of years, or what? Wow... I'm having a huge party for him on Saturday; hopefully it will work out great. Lots of great people - family, friends, etc. I'm really excited. It is not a surprise party though. My dad has a bad heart and a surprise like this could be a bad thing. I think he is excitd about it, too.
