Race Reports: Springfield 5K and Rabbitman Triathlon!!

I had two races over this past weekend. Because you know, as a member of Team Rabbit there’s always room for another race!

Happy 5K Finishers!
I had planned to do the Springfield 5K on Saturday with my friend Lisa – aka Running Bug – and her family! Her husband, son, and step-son (plus his friend) were also participating! But a couple of last minute back to back trips were on my schedule last week and I had completely forgotten to register! Never fear!! The Running Bug registered me in person when she went to packet pick up. Whew!

Race day I met my friends around 7:15. The race was to start at 8:00. They were right on time, too! It was going to be a hot one and thankfully the course was basically a flat out and back…except for that part where we go over the I-395 bridge. Twice. Then we finished on the Robert E Lee High School track! I love races that finish on a track! It gives them such a cool feel!

Anyway, I ran the entire race except for the water stop where I got two cups – one for me to drink and one to dump down my shirt. It was THAT hot out! I wore my rabbit jersey but *forgot* my bunny ears!!  Bummer. But I did get a shout out for my jersey and the guy said he’d use me as his rabbit as I passed him towards the end. My friends finished and all did great, too!

Rabbitman Tri - check!
On Sunday I planned to do the inaugural Rabbitman Triathlon! It was a half-ish distance race. I ended up swimming 1.37 miles; biking 55 miles; and walking 5 miles (due to a sore toe)! Yikes. The other Rabbits, Carol and Pam, ran at least 13.1 miles – they totally rocked it! Read the Rabbitman Rap here! We had some Rabbittears and other friends at the swim and two of them also did the bike. It was a great brick workout despite the shortened run for me. In the meantime, I’ll keep an eye on my toe and my fingers crossed!

Happy and Healthy Training!
